Recently in Orlando, I came back to the city wondering to myself why we wouldn't build
a monorail
type system instead of ground-based LRT. Monorail was unbelievably quiet and saved
space through
elevation.

At the sustainability conference at Augsburg on Saturday, I had a chance to speak with
a Skyweb
Express (http://www.skywebexpress.com/) rep. I asked him the question about elevation
and he
responded 'don't get me started'.

I've also read and heard that the costs are significantly lower, for example:
http://www.evworld.com/view.cfm?section=communique&newsid=4147 . The Skyweb rep stated
that the
city could be covered in a web of Skyweb for less than the cost of the Hiwawatha Line
alone.
