If the financial structure leaves all uninterested partes off the
hook then yes, it's a good and necessary idea. As I've stated a few times
before, I'm willing to pay my way as a fan. I'll pop an extra couple of bucks for
a ticket and I'll attend more games. I firmly believe there are many
thousands out there that will do the same (actually that's not a belief, it's a fact).
I don't expect those who don't give a rip about a ballgame to contribute much
if anything to the enterprise even though the existence of the team certainly
enhances the quality of the city to many degrees that may affect their own
interests.
My advocacy is only focused on a ball park for the Twins. With
eighty-one home games a year (and hopefully more) they would obviously
contribute the most to surrounding business. A football-only stadium is another
monkey
altogether.Eight real games a year compared to eighty-one is a quandary for
someone else.
I still think some tripartite angle of owner/user/community
loan/enhanced business tax could be worked out. I do not possess the pointy
economics hat required to nail the details but I'm sure it's workable. These stadium
arguments have historically taken years before real mortar was smoothed on
actual brick
I think we're about at the 3/4 stage.
