Liz McLemore: : Dean Zimmerman announced yesterday at the Fifth District
Green Party meeting that he is indeed planning to vote FOR the I-35W
Access Project. (I was there.) This project does NOT include PRT: in
fact, it may take us far afield of transportation alternatives like PRT,
since it calls for a $152-175 million public investment in our current
car-dominated infrastructure. If I remember correctly, over $3 million
dollars of that money will come from the taxpayers of Minneapolis. That
money could be used to build homeless shelters, reduce classroom
size--or even explore transportation alternatives like bus rapid transit
(BRT).

Peter Schmitz: This confirms what I've long suspected about Dean
Zimmermann , Zimmerperson, or
whatever . . .

He ain't green at all, just a disgruntled DFLer who used the Green Party
to advance his own political career. Back in the summer of '01, when he
was activiely campaigning for city council, I asked him why the Park
Board had shown little initiative in recycling, despite Green Party
representation. He got all blustery and defensive, telling me that the
best kept secret about the Park Board was how they recycle office paper.
Big deal. Hennepin County and its vendors recycle office paper.

If the Minneapolis Green Party is stupid enough to endorse Zimmerwhatever
again, they won't get another penny from me.
