As you know, the Minneapolis Board of Education spent November and December seeking community input to assist them in developing a well-rounded candidate profile in their search for the next superintendent. They heard from more than 650 people (40 percent were parents, 28 percent were employees, 23 percent were community members and seven percent were students).

One of the district's strongest and most valued asset, a community committed to education, was demonstrated again and again throughout the input process. You can read a summary of the input on the Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) Web site at http://www.mpls.k12.mn.us. Translations in Spanish, Hmong and Somali will be posted on the site tomorrow.

The summary document, along with all of the public input, will be reviewed by the executive search firm Hamilton, Rabinovitz & Alschuler (HRA) as the Board moves forward with the search. The Board unanimously selected HRA to assist them at the Jan. 27 regular Board meeting.

You can stay informed on the superintendent search by visiting the MPS Web site, as updates will be posted regularly.
