What's driving me up the wall about this discussion is
how some people keep saying, "we're only destroying 4
homes, not 8."

Given that low priced housing is hard to some by in
Minneapolis, isn't it irresponsible to desrtoy even
ONE home for a DEVELOPMENT project? Isn't that to
some degree what the HWY 55 issue was about, and
aren't we still paying for the 55 reroute? What about
the people who live in those eight homes? has anyone
asked them if they want to be forced to move for the
sake of an on ramp?

When debating the merits of economic development, it's
easy to forget that there are potentially people
loosing homes, and that lack of housing was arguably
one of the factors that contributed to the economic
slump in Minneapolis. I thought we basically had the
"imminent domain" debate in 2001, and that it
contributed to the downfall of the incumbant mayor and
city council president that year.

Well, like the stadium, I suppose these things are
going to keep comming back no matter how the residents
of the city feel about it. I just hope the council
remmembers who it represents.
