Roberta - thanks for the credit for Skyway News, but reading your post, I
had one of those editor-alarm moments: "Ohmygod, we forgot to tell people
the SafeZone cameras were turned on!"

Turns out that they aren't yet, according to the terse First Precinct
officer I spoke to this morning. (Our 2003 story reported the best guess,
which as we all know doesn't always become operational reality.)

I don't know the circumstances of the delay - or how long it is - but will
find out Monday. Thanks for the reminder.

For now, you can ditch that trenchcoat (unless you're worried about the
other 1,000 or so public and private cameras downtown).
