Roberta - thanks for the credit for Skyway News, but reading your post, I had one of those editor-alarm moments: "Ohmygod, we forgot to tell people the SafeZone cameras were turned on!" Turns out that they aren't yet, according to the terse First Precinct officer I spoke to this morning. (Our 2003 story reported the best guess, which as we all know doesn't always become operational reality.) I don't know the circumstances of the delay - or how long it is - but will find out Monday. Thanks for the reminder. For now, you can ditch that trenchcoat (unless you're worried about the other 1,000 or so public and private cameras downtown).
