I only wish I worked downtown so I could ride the bus. If I hopped a Canadian Pacific freight I'd be within two blocks of home and work as the main line goes past my house and my job in Crystal. When I served on a jury two years ago I rode the bus every day. It was easy and not too bad though in the July heat I was glad I didn't need to dress in a suit or skirt with hose. I take the bus downtown for Christmas and the flower show at Marshall Fields with my son and we can't wait to take the new LRT to the MOA. Passing good habits onto the next generation I hope.
When I lived in Sweden for a year many eons ago I took the bus or biked alot. Stockholm has a great mix of transportation with bus, subway and rail. I can only hope we get so lucky, mostly it seems that the US is exporting urban sprawl rather than importing mixed transit. Liz Wielinski Columbia Park REMINDERS: 1.
