Fellow list members!

One of the members of our co-op is heading off to Colorado to take advantage
of a graduate program there. This means that she's selling her shares in our
housing cooperative. Below is a brief description of our cooperative that I
wrote in preparation for co-leading a session at the upcoming Living Green Expo
-- the description may help folks get a feel for the NHC.

*****

The Nicollet Cooperative Association is a housing cooperative with a diverse,
progressive membership. We own an extensively rehabbed 37,000 square-foot
building at 4429 Nicollet Avenue South, with 28 apartment homes and additional
common areas.

How are we living green? We are re-using a 37,000 square-foot building built
in 1921. Twenty-eight households in one building translates into good energy
and land use. We manage ouir building and grounds in a resource efficient
way, and have dreams of adding solar and wind energy generation in the future.
We've discussed starting raingardens and greenroof space as soon as this
spring, and see many possibilities for additional sustainable projects, from
vermiculture to greywater.

Living cooperatively encourages relationship building amoung our communtiy of
people of diverse ages, races, religous and ethnic backgrounds. Our children
can easily play together, and are growing in a truly diverse community. We
are able to plan common meals and special events easily, and share cars, tools,
and books as many households live in one big house.

So, list members -- if this sounds good for you or for someone you know,
please contact me off-list, and we can discuss more details. My contact info is:

Here is a bit of info about the particular apartment available:

Sunny 3- bedrooms, newly renovated, new appliances, new oak cabinets, lots of
closet space, ceiling fans, new AC, free laundry, pet friendly, free
off-street parking, on a bus line, accessible building, close to Lake Harriet,
Minnehaha Creek, MLK Park, and a great neighborhood of coffee shops and wonderful
neighborhood stores. Ownership, heat and maintenance costs are included in the
monthly payment of $1,100, and only $2,000 down is needed.

This is a terrific apartment to share between two or three adults, and may be
co-owned, or an owner may rent to one or two roommates.

Come check it out! I'd be very glad to give a tour to anyone who is
interested.

Thanks!
