== Please Attend the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Commissioners next regular meeting ==

Where: MPRB headquarters building, 2117 West River Road
When: Wednesday, February 18, 5-8pm, public comments taken at 6:15pm.

Issues the commissioners will consider include:

* Negotiating with several private companies to operate the Lake Harriet, Lake
Nokomis, Lake Calhoun and Minnehaha concessions.

* A 5-year capital improvement bonding program for neighborhood parks

* Broadcasting the board meetings on cable TV.

* Negotiating and approving an agreement with SkipperLiner to operate and Excursion Boat and Charter Boat on the Mississippi River.

* The president of the board (Jon Olson) will appoint a commissioner to represent the MPRB on the Minneapolis Charter Revision Commission.

The last item -- the appointment -- should by logic be given to Vivian Mason because she has the smallest committee workload, being a member of only two committees and the chair of none, has previous organizational charter experience and has asked for the job.

You can voice your opinion during the open comment time at 6:15pm, but you need to call Diane Hill at 230-6404 before 4pm on January 21 so that she can add your name to the meeting agenda.

Finding and getting to the MPRB building is easy. It's just north of
the Broadway and West River Road intersection, and just north of the
iconic Broadway Pizza, along the river north of downtown. The building
has plenty of free parking for automobile drivers, and 2 bus lines pass
right by the building, the #20 and #32.

Until the Park Board begins televising their public meetings, it is
essential that members of the public attend these meetings.

Even more desirable if those who attended would summarize what they
learned and pass it on to others, such as local neighborhood newspapers
(e.g. Hill & Lake Press), neighborhood organizations (e.g. CARAG), post it here and
other residents of Minneapolis. Or send it to me, and I'll even edit it if you so desire and post it here and on the Park Watch website at http://www.mplsparkwatch.org/.
