In just the five Minneapolis precincts in SD63, we had approximately 800 people turn out for precinct caucuses. Luckily, our largest is traditionally large, so we had the auditorium for its 281 attendees. Many of our precincts multiplied their attendance ten-fold. We ended up signing in on legal pads when we ran out of sign-in sheets. Given what we perceived as utter chaos, I was incredibly pleased to hear so many new attendees raving about their experience. Nobody thought it was bad to be lost in a sea of people--they were excited to be involved in the process. Some caucuses stayed to debate resolutions until 9:30 p.m. This is how Minnesota democracy should be!
