To answer Peter's question about plastic bag recycling:

Plastic bag recycling has made it's way back into the Metro Area. The
recently launched "It's in the Bag"
program(http://www.mnchamber.com/about/ww_itsinthebag.cfm) has
collection bins located throughout the metropolitan area where you can
drop-off plastic bags to be recycled. All Rainbow Foods stores have bins
to collect and recycle plastic bags through a separate program. For a
full list of locations, see
http://www.mnchamber.com/about/ww_collectionsites.pdf

Acceptable Material

Plastic Grocery Bags
Plastic Retail Bags with hard plastic or
string handles removed
Plastic newspaper bags
Plastic dry cleaning bags

Unacceptable Material
Sandwich bags or other plastic
food packaging
Bubble wrap
Stretch wrap
Plastic bread bags

Keep in mind that you can conserve resources by using fewer bags.
Avoiding the use of plastic bags or reusing your own canvas or cloth
bags are your best options since recycled plastic bags do not become new
plastic bags. They are re-made into something that is not recyclable
like plastic lumber, so they are ultimately destined for the landfill or
the incinerator (where they produce harmful chemicals). It's challenging
to reduce your use of plastic bags, so recycling is a great last resort!
