There will be a community forum on the Minneapolis Empowerment Zone. African Americans have been almost completely left out of the benefits that the Empowerment Zone has to offer. Come to the forum and learn how communities of color, African Americans in particular are going to demand our fair share of the money. The city of Minneapolis got the federal Empowerment Zone designation because of the conditions that existed among people of color and African Americans in particular yet the city has failed to address those conditions. Since Sharon Sayles-Belton left office people of color, African Americans in particular have been left out of the process. If you know of any organization of color or business owner that has applied for Empowerment Zone funds and has been turned down please invite them to attend. The city will do the right thing and give the people whose condition got the Empowerment Zone designation their fare share. If they don�t we have put together a team of lawyers to move forward with a federal lawsuit. The bottom line is the Empowerment Zone has been handled improperly this will also be demonstrated at the forum. Reports to the federal government don�t match with those filed with other governmental agencies. Almost every person on the Empowerment Zone Board that has a business or represents an organization is receiving Empowerment Zone funds. Come learn how to apply for Empowerment Zone funds and learn about the Minneapolis Empowerment Zone.

FYI: Did you know that Calhoun Square, The Gap, Lunds, and The Rainbow building in Uptown are located with in the Empowerment Zone? I guess they really are struggling over there. ALL WEST BROADWAY BUSINESS OWNERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND.
