In today's Strib there is an interesting tidbit buried in a story about Wayzata
raising money to buy and save it's Big Woods. Keeping in mind the current crisis in
health care and the transit strike where the sticking point is who is going to pay for
the health care coverage, where does the "chairman and chief executive officer of
UnitedHealth Group, and a physician", come up with $31 million to give away since last
July?

I mean no disrespect toward the McGuires with this question as I have no idea of the
source of their funds than the above quotation. It may be their families have a
foundation or they made money by wise investments. But if the above info was offered
as the reason they had money to donate......

This is a link to the story and the relavent quotation:

 http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/4666269.html

"An advocacy group, meanwhile, raised the remainder of the money, with lead gifts from
Wayzata residents Wendy and Doug Dayton and Bill and Nadine McGuire. The McGuires have
given $10 million to the Walker Art Center, $10 million to the University of
Minnesota, $10 million to the Guthrie Theater and $1 million to the Children's Theater
since July. Bill McGuire is chairman and chief executive officer of UnitedHealth
Group, and a physician."
