Actually, fares should go up during *non-rush hours* if anything. I'm not in favor of raising fares more, but raising the fares during rush hour will only drive more people away from transit. I'd rather have my taxes go up and bus transit (an essential government service) remain subsidized. St. Louis actually makes their LRT free during some times of the day (like the lunch hour) to encourage people to use mass transit rather than their car.

Just out of curiosity, what is it about raising rush hour fares by 25 or 50
cents that is so hard?

I expect my taxes to go up, my utilities are going up, the cost of
everything else is going up, so why would I not expect my bus fare to go up?

Someone must have written already why this is not being considered as a
solution, but I missed it.

Can anyone put this on the negotiating table?

Is it already there?
