Hello List-this was also cc'd to the gov, and met members...

Today is 3/28/04, and another person loses their job, another income in the
household is gone; another single mom takes to the street's to get money to
feed her kids; Another young adult loses his job, now thinking what he can
do for some quick cash; Another person not able to make it to their
counseling appointment; another family cannot make it to the food shelter;
parents cannot make teacher conference meeting's at the school; Single moms
trade WIC for corner store food which is out dated, not to mention high
priced; battered and abused women cannot make it to shelters, firstly due to
cut back's, now the buses are not running.

To some this may not seem all that bad, but to those affected it is. I
cannot not do much, but I can make sure that the feeling's are expressed, by
using my posting's. This posting will continue until, the strike is over.

"The Metropolitan Council is committed to achieving a responsible new
contract that (1) allows Metro Transit to operate within its budget and (2)
reins in the runway cost of current health benefits. We owe nothing less to
the customers of our system and the taxpayers of our region." -Peter Bell

Mr. Bell, and Members of the board-
While I can appreciate the political agenda at times, there are many who
don't know or don't understand, and because of this are made to suffer at
the hands of the back and forth. At this point it does not matter which side
wins on lose, it is about those who may have voted for you, and right now
many of those people are losing jobs, stability, homes and futures. At what
cost to the customers are you willing to acheive the objectives of the
council and the governor. Apparently you and your members don't have to
worry about much in the way of transportation, as do some or most in my
community. I myself have car and transport as many as I can, but it still
does nothing to help those that are still caught without rides. You and your
members are to "work with local communities to provide critical service"
transportation, among other services. I urge you all for the sake of those
that have not voice to end the strike as soon as possible.

Thank you in advance,
Vanessa Freeman
