From: Rhoda Gilman, chair, Minnesota Universal Health Care Coalition The MUHCC supports Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1005 in its strike to maintain the health care benefits of transit workers. As health care costs escalate and as strike after strike is called because employees are asked to absorb those costs, the folly of treating the human right to health care as a market-driven commodity tied to employment status and to the concept of private insurance becomes more clear each day. Two main actions are scheduled for the upcoming week. We urge all Minnesota Greens to support them: * On Wednesday, April 7, there will be a one-day phone blitz to flood the governor's office with calls, telling him to come to the table and settle the transit strike immediately and to take steps toward solving Minnesota's health care crisis with a universal and comprehensive single-payer system. (Call 651-296-3391 or 1-800-657-3717) * On Saturday, April 10, at 2 PM there will be a rally in front of the Capitol. All -- strikers -- workers -- everyone who wants universal health care -- is urged to attend. In addition, there will be picketing before the governor's mansion (Summit Avenue between Oxford and Chatsworth) on Tuesday, April 6, at 6:30 PM. It is being organized by Macalester College students. The themes will be: support the strikers, urge Pawlenty to settle, and solve the health care crisis. For more information on this, contact Jared Lodge, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or 651-485-2915. --fwd David Shove Roseville REMINDERS: 1. Think a member has violated the rules?
