The next meeting of the Park Board commissioners is this Wednesday, April 7, starting at 5:00pm. This will be a very important meeting. A large number of significant topics will be discussed and voted upon. Some of the important topics are outlined below.

*. Crown Hydro proposal. There will be a public comment period specifically for this proposal. The full board will vote whether to continue this project or not. For details about the project, visit this web page: http://www.mplsparkwatch.org/taxonomy/page/or/9

*. Superintendent Search. The full board will vote on approval for the time line for the superintendent search.

*. Adopt a Resolution opposing the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District's proposed "Rule M." Text of Rule M is here: http://www.minnehahacreek.org/ruleM.php

*. Block 40 Playground Improvements. Accept the $188,228.20 bid for this project.

*. Approve application to the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization capital improvement program in the amount of $2,965,000 for water-related recreation facilities and water quality improvements at the Park Board Headquarters, Father Hennepin Bluffs, East River Flats, Edgewater Park and Mississippi River Gorge.

*. Armatage Park Athletic Fields. Approve a bid of $498,630 to improve the athletic fields at Armatage Park.

*. Lake of the Isles. Approve bid of $750,000 for phase 3 of improvements.

*. Athletic Equipment. Approve bids totaling $75,000 for athletic equipment.

*. Name the golf learning center at Gross Golf Course for John Sarna.

*. Approve SNP Enterprises, LLC to operate Lake Calhoun concession.

*. Approve construction of skate parks in 2004 at Armatage and Creekview Parks.

*. Approve construction of skate parks in 2004/2005 at Bottineau Park, Brackett Park, Elliot Park and Morris Park subject to funding.

One thing that baffles me is why a number of the agenda items are listed on both the committee agendas and the full board agenda. That is, it appears the full board agenda ASSUMES that the committees will agree to pass on the approvals and proposals to the full board for a vote as ALREADY WRITTEN.
