Several people have quizzed me offline about the brief mention in my Monday articles that a majority of white parents don't send their kids to Minneapolis schools. This comes from a Minneapolis district survey of 1,502 Minneapolis adults conducted last September and early October. Among white parents surveyed who had K-12 aged kids, 38 percent send their children to MPS. This is substantially lower than the all-race market share figure of 56 percent. Rates for minority market shares ranged from 66 percent for native American K12 parents to 80 percent for Asian-American K12 parents.
