Regarding recent comments/questions concerning CVS Pharmacy in Minneapolis:
On 4/8/04 the Minneapolis Planning Commission addressed the applications made on behalf of CVS Pharmacy, to construct a pharmacy and retail outlet at University Ave. SE and 10th St. SE, by approving a rezoning from R5 to C2; by approving a conditional use permit authorizing 24-hour operation with a drive through; and, by approving a site plan that brings the building out to University Avenue, including peripheral landscaping, a landscaped parking lot including landscaped islands with trees in the parking lot. The project developers worked with Marcy Holmes Neighborhood Association and City Planning Division staff for many months in order to get the project that was finally approved. Initial plans called for placement of the building on the back of the lot with a huge parking lot facing University. The lot has been vacant for approximately a decade. On 4/19/04 the Minneapolis Planning Commission addressed the applications made on behalf of CVS Pharmacy for the site at 12th St and Hennepin Ave in downtown Minneapolis, by approving 24-hour operation of a pharmacy, with a drive through (the drive through will be closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.); by approving 20 dwelling units for the property (mixed-use); and, by approving an accessory surface parking lot for residents and customers (not more than 55 spaces), and a bike rack for 4 bicycles. Additional clear glass windows are required along 12th St and behind the store adjacent to the parking lot. The neighborhood association supported the project. The building will look very nice. There are no public funds associated with either project. Michael Hohmann Linden Hills Planning Commissioner REMINDERS: 1. Think a member has violated the rules?
