I was thrilled to find out that Lt. Kris Arneson has just been named the new commander of the 5th precinct. I worked extensively with Lt. Arneson in the early 90's when Whittier was riddled with crack houses. She was the sgt. of the Community Response Team back then. She is one great cop. She is very commited to working with the community on livability issues and truly understands what community oriented policing is all about. She has done a fabulous job working with various communities in the 3rd precinct, sometimes in very difficult circumstances. Lt. Arneson was awarded Minnesotas top female cop in the late 90's.
Her dedication to the job and the high expectations she places on officers in her command is exceptional. All the officers I have seen working for her have a great deal of respect and admiration for her. I think that is an important quality in a leader. I for one welcome her back to the 5th precinct.
