I found it interesting that while Minneapolis' critics like to sit and
discuss how horrible a business climate our city has, it doesn't seem to be
stopping folks from coming in...

Key quotes:

"Not a nickel of city money is going into this, " [Ralph] Burnet said. "I'm
proud of that."

"Mayor R.T. Rybak said that with the move of La Belle Vie and other recent
openings in the downtown, such as of the Dakota Jazz Club & Restaurant,
Minneapolis is attracting businesses "you can't find in other cities."

"Too many other cities have bet their future on chains you can see anywhere
else," Rybak added."

"Council Member Lisa Goodman, who represents the area, and said the project
is a "double win" placing a desirable project in the entertainment district
of the city and ensuring the renovation of a nearly 100-year-old building.

She added that the organic growth of the project provided a strong contrast
to the heavily subsidized Block E.

"The investors and owners are doing so much more than siting a restaurant,"
Goodman said. "They are participating in the revitalization of Hennepin
Avenue privately, which is enormous."
