Here are questions that I would like the PS&RS Committee to respond to at its May 19
meeting:

1) What individual(s) or group(s) is/are authorized to make (or change) the CCPSafe
officer geographic assignments?
2) Who is currently on the PS&RS Committee and what is their role in authorizing
these staffing changes?
3) What are the criteria that are used to determine officerâs assigned geography?
4) Is the criteria evaluated consistently (and inclusively) over *all* Minneapolis
neighborhoods? If not, why?
5) What are the rankings by criteria for each Minneapolis neighborhood and how did
the scores change from previous review periods?
6) When is the next time that these assignments will be reviewed? By whom?
7) Is there statistical evidence that supports the concept that the assignment of a
CCPSafe officer in a neighborhood makes a measurable impact on crime? How does that
impact compare to that of a civilian assignee?
8) How does the impact of a CCPSafe Officer differ from the impact of a CCPSafe
civilian representative?
9) Which individuals involved in the decisions to change staffing territories this
year ALSO experienced REDUCED CCPSafe Officer staffing in the area of their own family
HOMES?

Subject: Notice of Meeting Re: Reassignment of CCPSafe Officer

NOTICE:

There will be a 2:00 time certain agenda item on the Public Safety & Regulatory
Services Committee Agenda this Wednesday, May 19th. City Council Members will be
asking the Chief, or Deputy Chief questions pertaining to the deployment of CCP/Safe
Officers to the 3rd & 4th Precincts this summer. The deployment leaves Whittier
without a CCP/Safe officer.

Councilmember Niziolek, Chair of the PS&RS Committee, has asked that folks submit
questions to his office and he will see that they are asked during this agenda item.
He also encourages residents to be present. This will not be a public hearing, but he
believes a good opportunity to hear concerns, questions, responses about the Summer
Safety Strategy to and from the Chief's office.

The meeting will be in Rm 317, Council Chambers, Wed., May 19th at 1:30pm. Send
questions for Councilmember Niziolek to his Aide - [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can also
contact our Council perosn Dean Zimmermann if you have any questions.
