Hello Minneapolis Folks,
Below is a portion of an article that was printed in
the Pioneer Press today.
Democrats and Republicans have done the same over the
years and Fox only provided a partisan view of the
drinking practice, which tells us as much about their
integrity as the people they were telling the story
about.
While I would support a drinking ban at the capital it
is not a secret that "some" legislators and clearly
not the majority have participated in the sharing of
refreshments for many, many years, and this story was
only produced for partisan reasons, which hardly makes
it even a story worth taking the time to be outraged
about. I wonder why Fox only put hidden camera's in
Democrats offices and not Republicans? It would appear
from Fox's own actions that you do not have to be
drinking to have your judgment impaired!

Pioneer Press Article:
Alcohol has long been a part of end-of-session vigils
in the Capitol. There is no law or legislative rule
prohibiting it. Sviggum and Pawlenty say imbibing is
declining and many Capitol regulars do not
participate.
"I think if you went to the refrigerators, you'd
probably find beer in a half-dozen,'' Sviggum said.
Pawlenty, who served 10 years in the Legislature and
said he occasionally had a beer himself, said the
practice has been slowly moving toward extinction. The
KMSP report may hasten its demise.
"I think it's a practice that needs to come to an
end,'' he said.
