Joint Public Hearing on City's Capital Program
It is once again that time of the year when the Minneapolis Capital Long Range
Improvement Committee ("CLIC") and the Minneapolis Planning Commission hold a joint
public hearing for public participation/comment on the proposed 2005-2009 Capital
Program.
The public hearing is scheduled for June 10, 2004 at 5:05 p.m. at Room 220 City
Hall/Municipal Building, which is located at 350 South Fifth Street, Minneapolis. The
Planning Department division of Minneapolis CPED (612.673.2597) published a hearing
notice in Finance and Commerce. I also know that Planning mailed notice to the
Minneapolis NRP neighborhood organizations. The hearing will open with Mr. Abeln,
Director of Capital and Debt Management, presenting an overview of the 2005-2009
proposals and financial plan.
In my opinion, Minneapolis' municipal resources continue under stress this year and
that fact is likely to be reflected in the capital funding recommendations to come
forward from the CLIC process for the City Council Members and Mayor Rybak. This is
your opportunity as a member of the public, taxpayer, stakeholder, etc. to offer
public comment on the capital proposals.
