Regarding smoking and this particular ban as it is proposed. Mr. Hohmann has signed his email that he is smoking a cigar at his home office. I understand the law as written would criminalize Mr. Hohmann because he is smoking in the work place.
If the law is passed, there will have to be some clarifications. There are also rather a lot of implications about passing an ordinance that will not be enforced. I can get behind more restrictions on smoking, but this ordinance creates far more problems than its worth. [MH] Ha, ha. A contrary viewpoint that makes a point. And, a good read Vicky, I agree. But this IS Minneapolis. Here are a couple of thoughts I found to be applicable to the smoking debate in our liberal city... and they might also serve to demonstrate the potential for compromise across the two-party isle in the larger scheme of things. "Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth." - John F. Kennedy "Politics are but as the cigar-smoke of a man." - Henry David Thoreau Mayor Rybak's caution is commended.
