Gary, I know you asked Council members about the five lanes, but I would like to make a comment. The government can not take land except for roads. It is unconstitutional unless they blight your property. By making Lake Street five lanes, they have gained that extra property by eniment domain. This wipes out a lot of little businesses along the way...at little cost and for sure, a little gas station that might have created a problem! One thing for sure...it needs to be a road. Otherwise, they can face a lawsuit such as the 3 million dollar ( if I remember correctly) settlement that happened after 394 was built. Also, it is my understanding, they want a little trolley along that section hooking up with light rail. I know the trolley has been talked about in the Sears area, which would be nice and perhaps that would need space to load and unload along Lake without hassle to petro burners......
