Great post Chris!!! I am on Dorie Rae's side about keeping neighborhood libraries open. We need them open more, and possibly a little less building at the Downtown library. Neighborhood libraries get used by kids and have a chance to stimulate young minds, the grand building Downtown is designed to stimulate old minds and eyes. I personally vote for the young ones and give them priority. Unfortunately children get lost in the priorities of government officials. I am mystified by the logic of building a 125 million dollar building when neighborhood libraries cannot afford to stay open. Without those community libraries feeding it what use do we have for that grand building other than to have architects and planners oww and ahh about the designer. Ah well, good luck in keeping your neighborhood library open. Our community kids need community libraries. If you do not give the children that first, most important stimulation there may not be a need for that later 'grand' stimulation - the children will not be there. Jim Graham, VV.
