Thank you David Curle for the nice summation of this apparent, but the
move is just good old fashioned union busting without the skull bashing; it
just goes to show how superfluous unions have become. The dividing tactic serves
to move parents to charter options and to move teachers to an even more
uncertain destination. MPS strategy brings to mind that of certain energy utilities
in the news lately. And Education Minnesota brings to mind just how gullible
and/or useless some advocates for labor have become. As a person who pays for
this kind of monkey business, I'm disgusted.
Although I'm not a parent nor educator (officially or vocationally), I
have an opinion and a stake in this present MPS fiasco: It is a disservice to
all of us. Unfortunately, we can only change the members of the board of
education because the rest of the bums are under contract. There is not a thing
that we can do but ridicule the poor beleaguered staff of MPS and Ed. MN. But the
board of ed. and union rank and file can do something; they can go to work on
replacing the folks that allegedly work for them.
