I'd like to know what the Minneapolis state senate delegation is doing on this. Sviggum's offer sounded like an offer for a special session without any Bachmann inspired anti-gay constitutional amendment nonsense.

Subject: MPD: No point to a special sesson
Reply-To: "Thomas Searles" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

"Just minutes after Republican House Speaker Steve Sviggum made what he
called a last offer for a narrowly targeted special session - he said voters
are giving his members heat for not accomplishing more in a regular
session - the Senate's top Republican said there'd be no point."
http://www.startribune.com/stories/587/4887672.html

There would be no point for having a speical session. The Democrat
leadership in the Senate has made it quite clean that they, as Senator
Johnson has said, "don't need anything". Sen. Ann Rest, DFL-New Hope, "This
ain't the same Senate because we don't need anything."

The DFL voters, in Minneapolis and St. Paul specifically, should remember
those words when local aid cuts of as much as $12 million to Minneapolis and
$3 million to St. Paul become effective.

Senators Johnson and Rest have gotten exactly what they wanted, nothing. I
hope they are happy.

Saying creationism deserves equal time with the theory of evolution in the classroom is like saying I deserve equal time with Pavarotti at the Sydney Opera House.
