Why do you think the ban is elitist?

With all the scientific and emotional arguments raging back-and-forth,
elitism is a new one.

Probably because smoking is primarily a phenomena of the lower social-economic classes. The more people are poor, less educated, unemployed or in unskilled employment, etc., the more likely they are to smoke.

So a smoking ban inside businesses is most annoying to those people. But the proponents of this ban are on average more middle-class, more educated, etc. compared to smokers. So I guess you call that elitist.
