Other than corporate landlords, I don't know anyone who charges application fees. I have 38 properties and I do not charge the fee, especially with the vacancy rate the highest in my 35 years in business.

Keith, I have some sympathy for you here, but why haven't landlords pooled information proactively (or have they)? You don't need government to make information portable between yourselves. Government often gets involved if there's been a market failure. Have local rental-property owners dropped the ball? > I see the possibility that unbalanced, reckless, and dangerous > "do-goodin" by the enforcement of the wish list of professional "do-gooders" may > further harm both landlord and tenant. I hope this breakfast is not part of a > petty tyranny against landlords. >From what I read, the breakfast is open to all - including rental-property owners. Most "juntas" don't do business in the open...let's not overdramatize things, especially when the spur of the accusation is a post announcing a public discussion of the very issue. In fairness, I'd also like some testimony from advocates of an ordinance about the harm. How high are they application fees? What are the examples of abuse?
