<< Fortunately for me, Minneapolis attorney Marshall Tanick wrote an editorial in today's paper that perfectly expresses my views on the latest Minneapolis schools superintendent hiring. Thanks to Mr. Tanick, I don't have to take the time and effort to craft the words to clearly and succinctly express my opinion; he has done a bang-up job of it. Here's a link to the editorial: http://www.startribune.com/stories/1519/4897686.html >> I agree. I also overheard a comment from Bill English that the new super's contract allows her to "pick her own team." If true, the board may be inviting legal action from employees who the new super fires-at-will, rather than for cause, etc., if she exercises that option. Moreover, I believe it is bad policy to give people in supervisory positions almost unlimited power to hire, fire, reassign, etc. That is what the current realignment mess stems from, in my opinion. I just published another commentary at my web site, entitled "The district should follow, not seek to "reform" the Teacher Tenure Act" http://educationright.com/id363.htm -Doug Mann, King Field Mann for School Board www.educationright.com REMINDERS: 1.
