Your favorite governing body downtown used YOUR MONEY to pay Ted Mann $6 million + interest for the Stimpson building. Now they are selling it for $2.8 million. Heckuva deal - you lose! From today's Strib: http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/4909882.html
....and don't forget that the geniuses at the Park Board OVERPAID Moore Business Forms $1 million for its new headquarters. Of course Moore Business Forms laughed all the way to Chicago. Minneapolitans might read a lot, but I wonder how much they retain. Too bad that surveys can't measure information processing and retention. The 2005 Minneapolis budget will be unveiled soon and the high-pitched whining will begin again. Let me suggest that you focus some attention on the Minneapolis Tax assessor's office. It would nice to find out why so many of the large, downtown office buildings are UNDER-assessed by millions of dollars - especially when State Law requires that the tax value be within 95% of market value. I wonder if the property owners actually went to Tax Court to get the values reduced, or if the assessors just did them a "favor." Vicky Heller North Oaks and Cedar-Riverside REMINDERS: 1.
