Well, I'm finally relieved that another listmember had the courage to bring up 
parallels to Nazi Germany after I had taken a beating for it a year and a half ago.

Nevertheless, we're in a real dilemma.  Mass transit lines are vulnerable to terrorist 
attacks.  Look at Israel.  Not that I want to see us become more of a police state, 
however.  I just wish our nation had a more humane system of economics that doesn't 
exploit and anger marginalized populations and countries all over the globe.  Again, 
look at Israel.  I'm afraid that our Light Rail lines and busses in the metro region 
may be vulnerable to terrorist attacks as long as the United States support a brutal 
foreign policy.  Perhaps a city council resolution condeming US foreign policy might 
make Minneapolis safer from terrorist attacks.  I'm not sure.  

One other observation:  The military model is creeping into almost every facet of 
American life.  In the human services, for example, the term "target population" 
(meaning those in need of assistance) has become very common.
