David Greene writes: "Also call your legislator to ask for more local police funding. Call the governor and tell him you're willing to take a tax hike. His "no new taxes" pledge both serves a tiny special interest group and is fantastically dangerous."
Heller here: Do you really want Minneapolis to be a ward of the State? I always thought that Police and Fire protection were funded through local property taxes. It is amazing that none of you have questioned why Minneapolis, a rather small city, cannot manage to operate on a $1.22 BILLION annual budget. Do you know where all of that money actually goes? If not, you would be wise to find out before you ask for more. Having said that, there is NO LAW AGAINST PAYING MORE TAXES. Feel free to get your checkbooks out and SEND MORE MONEY to whichever government agency you feel is most needy. Vicky Heller North Oaks and Cedar-Riverside REMINDERS: 1.
