Barb Lickness shares:

"First, while the city may have paid $275,000 for the property (not sure
about that) there is substantially more money in the site. On 8/23/96 the
City Council authorized the use of $400,700 of federal MILES funds for this
site. The use of these funds requires job producing industrial development.
The neighborhood also invested $150,000 of its NRP funds with the same
understanding that the site be used for job producing industrial
development."

Vicky asks:

Were the MILES funds actually disbursed? Who received the money? What was
done with it?

CM Schiff stated that the City had $275,000 in the property that was sold to
Sabri for $125,000.

The property in question occupies one-half of a City block - $125,000 is a
sweetheart deal no matter who the buyer is.

It would be nice to know if Sabri's gift from the taxpayers was the entire
$700,000 net.

How does the City expect honest businessmen and businesswomen to compete
with Sabri, Minn, Sherman, etc. when the favored few have gobs of public
money stuffed in their pockets. I guess the honest business people just get
to pay higher taxes - to bankroll their competition. Right?
