While some political chicanery is
easily forgotten, a televised bribery and the Federal trial running during
the beginning of the next election cycle is just to juicy for most people to
ignore. I think they will remember! Even if Sabri is able to beat the
charges, still the entire City watched the bribe take place and heard the
promise of "retirement" benefits. Perhaps others might also look for the
"opportunity" to retire.

WM: In this country, one is innocent until proven guilty. Sabri may have said anything he liked on TV as alleged by the FBI, but everything Herron said was scripted by that same FBI to illicit a bribe. That is why the ACLU and others fought (maybe still fight) FBI stings.

As my memory serves me just such arrogance and buying his own "Justice" once
landed a Chicago braggart named Capone in prison.

WM: Uh, no. Capone was sentenced and did time for tax evasion.

While the Federal
government may be slow, its memory is long and sure. While some may think
the "Justice in Minneapolis" may be bought, that slow unstoppable arm of the
law is even now reaching out.

WM: Federal court wins some 80% of it's cases, but not because it actually has a rational case in each instance, but much more often because the "bargain" for the person tried is that the feds will drop some charges for a guilty plea. The feds will smear one in the press, make one's life miserable, make life miserable for one's family, and etc. if one insists on going to court. Look how they smeared Herron in the press. The FBI claimed that Herron said something on the order of 'sure, I smoked dope'. In reality, Herron said that as part of a sentence. The rest of the sentence was "20 years ago." The FBI cut that particular little item out of the tape they turned over to TV stations. What else did they slice and dice in that instance? In other instances? This is not a new behavior for the FBI, but a continuing one.

Since Sabri is the same case as Herron, I am unwilling to believe the tape on TV, the news stories in the papers, the radio stuff--anything, because I do not trust the source. So, before burning Sabri at the stake, maybe we should wait for the court case. BTW, it's been postponed several times now, so it may be that it never comes to court.
