DR Penned: "I believe the Mayor has taken the lesser of two evils in this case. I believe he made this decision wanting to help the greater majority of people. As he should. However, one should not deal in unsavory business deals, one should not be dishonest, one should not bribe, one should not lie, one should not bait and switch, and one should not do business with one that does. Period. I for one, am getting tired of seeing high density housing/buildings being built. We used to have a sky and open spaces. Where are all the people coming from to fill all this housing? Has anyone noticed all the For Rent signs in neighborhoods. Rents are going down, taxes are going up and we are making less money while our tax dollars are being given to developers to build more housing/buildings with their investments being close to nil. $10 million for ownership of a $170 million dollar project (and they are not done asking yet..59 million more) is beyond comprehension...yet we know it is good for the neighborhood. Is it fair..no. Is Sabri' project fair..NO! Is it honest..NO!"
You almost seem to have switched positions mid post. Your take on this seems ambiguous. I've been watching this thread very closely over the past several days, and it seems like alot of people are wrestling with their conscious, trying to find a way to justify the Mayor's position. I've been biting my tongue, so to speak, because I rather fear Basim Sabri. You see, I know him. Rather, I knew him. I once rented from him, many many moons ago, and I will just say that I'd never ever ever do business with him again. I'd rather not go into details on it, to try to preserve some degree of anonymity, but it really amazes me that the city/Mayor Rybak would consider doing any kind of business with this guy. I cannot fathom how anything Sabri is involved in could be "good for the neighborhood." Dan Longfellow REMINDERS: 1. Think a member has violated the rules?
