The article about the Elroy site states only what the city paid for it and that's what
I stated. I should have also stated the city invested $401,700 of CDBG Miles funds and
$150,000 of NRP funds making it a $701,700 dollar piece of property ... for Sabi's
mere investment of what ?!!!!

WM: What I see, in this city-sponsored deal is, scaled down, the same type of deal offered Ryan Companies and other big players for such notorious things as Block E, Target Center, the Dome, St. Anthony Falls itself.
If the city turns around and denies the same to Sabri and the Elroy site, they will be accused of everything nasty in court. By putting money into "revitalizing" the areas adjacent to Lake St., the city asserts its interest in continuing to do business the way it has done business since Franklin Steele secured the reparian rights on Nicollet Island in 18?? something, not all that long after we "bought" Mpls. from the Indians in a faux conclave between a band of Mdewakaton (sp?) Dakota and Zebulon Pike on Pike Island circa 180x.

We need $50,000 to keep our library open for a fourth day... they want to take a
million of our library referendum money... give me some reasoning on this!

WM: I think it's crystal clear. The current leadership of this city and this state (and this nation) values many, many things more than libraries. Libraries cost money, they don't make money. They are an institution, to care for or not as we so choose, not an industry that produces taxes.
