I would like the people of minneapolis to know how disastrous yesterdays
decision was.It was a blowtoourcommunityin so many ways that will
reverberate for years to come.Ipersonally want to tanktemayorfor clearly
understanding whatteissue was.first,it washousing for me and 69
others.secondly it was misrepresentation of somalis @hig levels of
government by an individual who is power hungry.Kennedy once said ''ask not
what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country.''i
sincerely believe that everyone gained and we lost.Our legitimate leaders
were embarrassed by the behaviour of one of our so called leader that
council was almost unable to conduct business because he almost mauled the
mayor.the mayor at one point had to politely tell omar jamal to kindly take
a seat.The vote yesterday benefited everyone that was against our interests
because it became a war zone for Lilligren whos alliance with omar jamal was
the worst mistake ever.All the old women who came with the signs were from
omar jamals clan,secondly they told the old ladies who are getting evicted
from a mall in st.paul that this meeting would help them get stores in
minneapolis an that is what council was voting on.the poor old ladies were
carrying bags thinking they were vying for a spot.The person organizing the
old ladies told the mayor and the entire room afterwards they were from
st.paul and getting evicted could the mayor intervene,direct quotes.In our
culture our mothers are valued and respected.we bring in clans for matters
of life an death or a communal tragedy period.what happened yesterday was so
vile that the mothers were made to hold signs that they didnt undersatand
was so shameful that forget housing we defiled our parents to no
end.everyone went home with the impression our mothers are abused,how could
child let there parent be abused so much that we needed SAVING by the
government,if this is such a crisis why didnt our leaders do anything before
this.Maybe Jamal thought he gained credibility with liligren and maybe he
will finally get funding but was it worth the cost,did he really have to get
a pound of flesh.asha ahmed ,whittier neighborhood.
