. Yes, the gorge was beautiful on Saturday.
Boating between the Lake Street bridge and Ford bridge,
for a couple of minutes, we watched a bald eagle
soaring overhead. At another location, we suddenly
noticed a fox only 25 feet away at the water's edge.

And as Jay mentioned, many trees and shrubs were in
wonderful shades of reds and yellows. But along with
the beautiful, there was also the ugly. The still
green leaves of buckthorn were dispersed along the
hillside, but I was glad to see that most of the gorge
seemed to not have all that much. But the infestation
could possibly overrun more land in time if not kept
in check.

The green sewage warning signs were evident at
several of the storm sewer outlets. Does anyone have
an update on the status of the efforts to separate
the sanitary and storm sewers? How much is completed
and how much is still left to do? Although, there had
not been a heavy rain recently, there was still a
distinct sanitary sewer odor at some of the outlets.
Why would this be? Are there some sanitary lines that
are constantly leaking or have an open air connection
into the storm sewer system?

Many boats of various sizes. Must have been around
9 or 10 kayaks, 6 or 7 runabouts, 4 or 5 cabin
cruisers, 3 small fishing boats, one canoe, and one
barge.

The amount of trash along the shore was bothersome,
but to be expected I suppose. Several beer cans were
floating just down river from a gathering and 4
expensive runabouts pulled up at the large white
sand dune on the west side.
