If they can put schools in a strip mall why not acquire a public school
building for a charter? If the public school system wants the building
closed: it should sell for little or nothing (as other public land in Mpls)
since it has no purpose.. likely to become "blighted" or the city school
system could rent it to you and since the government pays for charter
schools...this money would then go back into the school system and not a
strip mall developer. Why could you not make Pratt a charter school? In
our area...instead of using churches and a couple of malls, could they not
have utilized the closed Morris Park school? What have we gained by closing
a school while paying for space in churches!

The problem with all this...closing schools does not address the issue of
what is wrong with the school system that is causing people to leave. And
if a school is doing well and achieving the goal of educating children, the
system should be working with the school and not trying to destroy it.
