Whether or not our city council members go along with this or not is going to be a huge litmus test on whether they are really committed to grassroots neighborhood driven citizen involvement or whether they are merely paying lip service to these principles. It would be very interested to hear from some of our city leaders, including the mayor, regarding their thoughts on this. I suspect some of the forces pushing this would like to keep it all as quiet as possible.
WM: They have already begun the process. They've taken some millions out of the current NRP moneys for police and housing initiatives which neighborhoods did not factor into their approval processes.
Personally, I really don't care what council and mayor say, it's what they do that counts.
