The initial conclusion most new residents of the northside come-to, build a taller fence to keep riff-raff out. Most inevitably end-up coming to the conclusion that the best fence is one that defines the boundary (of the property) but allows at least partial visibility from the outside looking-in.

In my immediate vicinity, the neighbor that has experienced the highest incidence of vandalism/theft from their property is -you guessed it - the one w/ the 6' high fence, fully-enclosing the backyard.

Sort of like a saying that an old-timer once told me as a child when my parents bought a farm in northern Maine. I was amazed by the fact that most of the residents never locked their doors. In fact, many didn't even know where the key to the lock was anymore. Upon asking the old sage, he calmly replied "locks only keep honest people honest". It took a few years for the meaning of what he had said to fuly sink-in :-)

How attractive! Assuming your plea for razor wire is hyperbole I'd
like to ask you if you'ld like an eight foot fence blocking the view from the
street once a thug was INSIDE that perimeter. I do know the thug would love such
protection. Every now and then ordinances make a little sense.
