"Today the Minneapolis City Council passed a resolution urging the State of
Minnesota to add ranked and cumulative ballot processing capability as a
certification requirement for new voting equipment.

The vote was 10-3, with Council Members Johnson, Colvin Roy, and Ostrow
voting no."

I believe Paul Zerby introduced the resolution through the Intergovernmental
Relations Committee. Thanks to his leadership and to those council members
who supported the resolution. This is a positive step toward IRV voting.
This particular action won't affect the upcoming election in any way, but
hopefully will influence legislative decision making regarding the
purchasing and replacing of voting equipment in the future. The important
work ahead is to implement IRV for local elections, which will require a
ballot initiative in Minneapolis.
