Mr. Shoemaker and the Green party could have paid to place his comments in the form of deceptive mudslinging ads, like the Republican candidate, had they wished. Luckily for those of us in Northeast there are candidates like Diane Loeffler who are taking the high road.

Ah-hem (clearing throat)...Excuse me (politely)? This email in of itself is, in my opinion, "deceptive mudslinging" by implication. It's nothing personal to Ms. Wielinski, but young, engaged Nordeasters like myself are quite tired of politics-as-usual tactics. That's why Tom Taylor is such a refreshing choice for change. In all of Tom Taylor's campaign literature (which I recommended checking out the jist of it on http://www.VoteTomTaylor.org), reported stories, and in ALL of my personal accounts with Tom Taylor (he is my neighbor, after all), have I heard ANY negative campaign rhetoric about the other two candidates. Not to say that some supporters have been critical of Loeffler's proposals, particularly the out-of-touch Community Center @ Jackson Square. The neighborhood organization listened to all concerns and ideas about Jackson (numerous community meetings all with mailings to all residents within plenty of time for many to participate), and acted accordingly to move forward with the redevelopment of Jackson in the most appropriate way. It is my understanding that the proposed center was not realistic or practical at the time, and, quite frankly, seemed a bit lofty (no pun intended on Loeffler's name). It leaves one wondering if that effort was community driven or politically driven. My educated guess is that it was a little from column A and a little more from column B.

Also, it seems that none of Mr. Shoemaker's concerns in his 5 page report on the center have actually been addressed or rebuffed by the NECDC, supporters of Loeffler's, or Diane Loeffler herself, but rather he has been attacked in a more personal way. And who's "taking the high road" again?
