We have reviewed the operation of the traffic signal at 50th Street & Hiawatha Ave and as of the afternoon of 10/20/04 have instituted a change in operation that will be in effect each time the traffic signal is preempted by an arriving LRT vehicle. The change that we have installed will cause the northbound to westbound turn arrow to be displayed each time the gates are raised at the intersection in addition to the display of the turn arrow in its normal occurrence each signal cycle. While this should be helpful to those experiencing long delays waiting to turn left because of a preemption of the signal by an arriving light rail vehicle might delay south bound traffic. So folks coming into our neighborhood should be delayed much less.
