Liz,

Don Samuels has chosen to be a member of the Democratic Party. He does not have to be
"party-blind" when it comes to making his own decisions regarding who is best to serve
in a particular office. A healthy democracy requires multiple parties and voices. When
we have one single party representing all interests our system tends to not work as
well because no one party can fairly represent all voices. The former Soviet Union is
an excellent example of a one-party system that did not work.

I am assuming Don decided to support Tom Taylor because he feels confidence in the
style of leadership, and positions on the issues. Tom Taylor is a great person, no
doubt about it, and it should be no surprise that Council Member Samuels decided to
endorse his candidacy.

Does this mean that Don Samuels will be seeking the Green Party
Endorsement ( I believe both republicans and greens supported him against
the DFL endorsed candidate during his last run) in his new district in
2005 and challenge Natalie Johnson Lee??
