Here is the text from an email I received recently from a colleague. A
coworker of her dad's is running as a write-in candidate in District 3 and
sent the following letter out to drum up support. I don't know this person
from Adam so no endorsement should be assumed; just trying to provide more
information.

Dear Hennepin County Resident,

My name is Daniel V. (Dan) Jones. I am running as a write-in candidate for
the position of Hennepin County Soil and Water Conservation District
Supervisor for District 3. This letter is to seek your vote.

The Hennepin Conservation District (HCD) was founded in 1949 as a Special
Purpose Unit of Government under Section 103C of Minnesota Law. HCD is one
of 91 Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) throughout Minnesota,
and is part of a national network of conservation districts.

The Mission of the HCD is to facilitate the conservation of water, soil, and
related natural resources through education, technical assistance, and
implementation of sound land use practices, in the most cost-effective
manner, for the benefit of current and future generations.

Today, HCD is involved in a wide variety of land and water conservation
issues. The work of HCD extends from assisting landowners with sustainable
land use to working with municipalities to develop growth management
strategies. HCD programs and expertise seek to strike the balance between
natural resource conservation and responsible economic development.

Qualifications :

Twenty-nine years in the City of Minneapolis Planning Department--a decade
as a supervisor.

Avid outdoors person; camping, kayaking, bicycling, hiking.

Member Superior Hiking Trail Association, National Wildlife Federation,
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, and The Nature Conservancy.

I live on a small lake in the district soil and water quality are very
important to me.

Currently retired, thusI have the time to devote to this position.

I believe that the partnerships and organizational skills built during my
civil service career will help to move the HCD forward and to build and
strengthen partnerships with local communities and other governmental
agencies. Together, we can work to protect our precious natural resources
for future generations .

Put me to work for you! When you vote on November 2nd, write DANIEL V.
JONES in the box for SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT SUPERVISOR -
DISTRICT 3 . Don't forget to fill in the oval.

WANT TO HELP MAKE IT HAPPEN? Tell your friends and family in Hennepin
County. What better than a grass roots movement to preserve our trees.

Thanks for your support. I look forward to serving you.

Daniel V. Jones
