Voter Turnout Ward 4-Precinct 1 I took off from work today and signed up to be on call for giving rides to the polls. When I arrived at Creekview Park at 7:00 a.m. this morning, the line was the longest ever in 15 years living in the neighborhood. There was just barely room to squeeze inside the building. I was voter #63 at 7:25 a.m. My neighbor Ginny left me a message that she and her husband Jim voted this afternoon and that she was voter #957 at 2:25 p.m.
Precinct 4-1 is mostly Shingle Creek neighborhood, which has about 1,100 households and 3,100 residents. In the 2000 general election in precinct 4-1, there were 1,197 votes cast for President, with Gore/Lieberman garnering 795 votes and Bush/Cheney garnering 321 votes, with 81 votes for others. So it appears we are up significantly in this precinct in northwest Minneapolis. Jeffrey Strand Shingle Creek REMINDERS: 1. Think a member has violated the rules?
